Bucket time
The Attention Autism programme was created by Gina Davies who is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, she turned her passion for communication development into practical and joyful intervention strategies for parents and professionals dealing with autism. She has worked with hundreds of autistic children in schools, nurseries and residential settings, and directly with parents, carers and families. Here at FSDC we use Stage one and Stage two of the Attention Autism programme and incorporate Gina’s strategies into building fun and practical sessions which encourage shared experiences, turn taking, listening and most of all laughter and excitement. This is achieved by having a theme and resources to match.
Stage one starts with “bucket time” and builds the child’s attention and listening skills.
Stage two focuses on using equipment in different ways including visually bright/sensory shakers/messy play and giving the items a theme/story.
