Welcome message from our nursery SENCO
Here at FSDC we are passionate about identifying every child’s individual level and stage of development. We take time to settle your child in when they start and ensure we have a clear picture from you of their needs and abilities. We believe that Early Years should be fun, the start of a new adventure and that all children should have a strong voice in driving their development and learning. We do this by providing a broad and stimulating Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum with the “First Steps” to your child’s educational path.
We observe your child throughout the daily routine, this allows us to identify any additional or special needs your child may have. We then give you time to share your concerns with us in an informal meeting. If we agree that your child has an additional need we ask for your consent and complete initial concerns and referral sheet. This form is then submitted to the Brent Early Years Inclusion Support Team (EYIST). EYIST are then invited to come and formally observe your child. This is conducted during his/her normal playtime in the nursery. Your child is unaware of this assessment and is under no pressure.
